A Return to the Depths of The Pit
Five years after the original film sent shivers down our spines, The Platform 2 is set to arrive on Netflix on October 4th, 2024. Just in time for spooky season, you can return to the nightmarish world of the vertical prison where residents fight for survival on a descending platform of dwindling food supplies.
The original 2019 film, “The Platform,” became a breakout hit for Netflix, holding the number five spot in the streamer’s most popular non-English films with over 82.8 million views. The film’s exploration of social inequality and the desperation of human nature resonated with audiences worldwide.
A New Face Enters the Fray
The original director, Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, returns to steer the ship for The Platform 2. Joining the cast this time around is rising Spanish star Milena Smit, known for her role in “The Snow Girl.” She’ll be joined by established actors Hovik Keuchkerian (“Money Heist”), Natalia Tena (“Game of Thrones”), and Óscar Jaenada (“Luis Miguel: The Series”).
A Mysterious Figure and a Desperate Struggle
The official synopsis hints at a new power structure emerging within The Pit. A mysterious leader has imposed their rule, forcing a new resident to become embroiled in the ongoing fight against the brutal feeding system. But with deadly consequences for choosing the wrong plate, the stakes have never been higher. How far will these characters go to survive?
